Launched Cleangeeks.com!

I finished the new DigitalSoaps shopping site, cleangeeks.com! I took brand new photos for the site, too. It was a long, time consuming project, but I think it was worth the effort! It looks much better than the old DigitalSoaps website.

We've got a coupon code going on in celebration: CLEANGEEKS

This code gives customers 20% off their first order!

Cheers.

Pepsi-type scented shampoo back. and conditioner is here

Exciting news! The Pepsi-scented shampoo is back at digitalsoaps.etsy.com, accompanied by conditioner! To me, it smells exactly like cola. The fact that it comes in a Pepsi bottle is another bonus.

Q&A With DigitalSoaps

Hello all!

Southern Belle Blog conducted a Q&A with DigitalSoaps. It was fun answering questions about the conception of my gamer soaps.

Q How did you come about your gaming controller soaps?
A I started making soap by accident. The idea came while searching the Internet for 5.25-inch floppy disk chocolate (I used to get the candy as a child, at a store called Computer City). Instead of finding chocolate, I found a ton of candy electronics molds. First I thought I might make chocolate. But I wanted to make something that wouldn't melt! My first game controller soap was a PS2 controller. It was so popular, I started expanding into other game controllers. Now, the store is mostly focused on gaming.

Q I noticed you have Mountain Dew scented items. How did you come about that creation?
A I don't remember exactly. I just know when I found the Mountain Dew fragrance, it seemed like the perfect pairing. I knew Xbox and Mountain Dew had a joint promotion at one time. My brother, a total computer geek, always had Mountain Dew bottles strewn around his room. Gamers love Mountain Dew, and so Mountain Dew controllers are right on target. The idea led to the concept of Mountain Dew-scented shampoo, body wash, and eventually conditioner and lotion.

Caffeine collides with gaming soap

August 1, 2010--Bellingham, Wash.
Geek soap inventor DigitalSoaps now offers product infused with caffeine.

The company is known for creating game controller soaps celebrating the modern Wii, Xbox and PlayStation systems, alongside retro SEGA and Nintendo systems.

"With a shot of caffeine in their soap, gamers have an even bigger reason to take a shower," said company owner Chrystal Doucette.

Doucette said several of the products are caffeinated, including Xbox controller soaps, NES controller soaps, Mountain Dew-type shampoo and Mountain Dew-type lotion.

Decaf versions are still available for those who prefer their jolts in drink form, and those sensitive to caffeine.

"Caffeine can be absorbed through the skin, so it is not necessary to drink it to feel the effects," Doucette said. "But it doesn't get absorbed in the same amount, so my soap has much more caffeine than a can of soda."
Each bar of soap contains 530 mg of caffeine.

DigitalSoaps was founded in a whim in 2009 by Doucette. Her soap was the first to communicate with subcultures of gamers and geeks. Initial products included cell phones, iPods, and even a 3D chess set.

The first video game-themed soap, a PlayStation 2 replica controller, received so much attention, Doucette decided to start making more video game controller replicas.

Each product is made in her home. Chrystal remains committed to using only high quality, vegan ingredients in her soap.
